Italian fashion icons like Gucci and Zegna lead the way in sartorial elegance. A trait often mirrored in Italy’s approach to car design. Which also emphasizes aesthetic appeal above all else. A prime illustration is the 2024 Alfa Romeo Giulia, showcasing a designer-grade exterior that hints at its performance capabilities at first sight. It’s powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine matched with an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The combination is good for 280 hp and decent, but ultimately disappointing acceleration. What won’t disappoint is the Giulia’s refined chassis and tight handling. Traits that absolutely steal the spotlight and offer a harmonious blend of handling performance that delights on winding roads. Plus a steering system that forges a deep connection with the road beneath. Every model is well-equipped with a wide range of convenience and technology options as well.
For 2024, small visual improvements have been made to better align the Giulia with Alfa Romeo’s new Tonale SUV. This effectively means updated headlights and taillights. On the outside, not many improvement are necessary, as the Giulia is exotic and alluring enough. On the inside though, a touch more luxury could enhance the overall package. The right pieces are there. With the premium interior option, you’ll find leather on the dash and upper doors and a 14 – speaker Harmon Kardon audio system. Despite the soft touch materials, textured metallic trim and other higher-end elements, it doesn’t capture the same level of sophistication as the Mercedes-Benz C-Class or even the Lexus RC.
As mentioned before, a 5.5 second 0-60 is squarely middle of the pack in this segment. Outpaced by other European 4-cylinders from Audi and BMW with even less horsepower. Undeniably though, where the Alfa Romeo Giulia really excels, is through the twists and turns, Here, the tight chassis and RWD set-up brightly shines. Feedback is crystal clear and acutely accurate. Body roll is always minimal, helping the Giulia remain predictable, flat and easy to push to its limits.
Slightly sedated acceleration and a lackluster interior compared to segment rivals are unfortunate. However, the crisp handling and seductive Italian exterior styling of the 2024 Alfa Romeo Giulia are undeniable highs that help this sport sedan stand out as an attractively unique option for anyone looking to differentiate themselves from the usual crowd.
