2024 Genesis G70 3.3T
Auto Editor
The Genesis G70, once again, has demonstrated its ability to carve out a space for itself in the luxury market. Not just keeping pace with the European competition, but in many cases, breaking exciting new ground. Even though the Korean luxury brand is still in its first generation and only hitting its sixth year, it’s holding its own against rivals who’ve been around for generations. An undeniably impressive accomplishment.
Starting with the serious power to be found under the hood first. There’s a standard 300-hp 2.5-liter turbo four or an optional 365-hp twin-turbo 3.3-liter V6. Which we can’t recommend enough. Rear-wheel drive comes standard for the purists, but all-wheel drive is available too. Whichever drivetrain you choose, acceleration is fiercely quick. All the more in Sport mode with the use of the Boost button.
The ride and handling? Solid with the base engine, and downright impressive if you spring for the twin-turbo. Smooth and composed even under the most intense of cornering conditions. The 3.3T benefits from adaptive dampers, allowing the driver to firm things up even more. The G70 is an excellent communicator, allowing you to feel connected to the road beneath, sending all of that valuable information right up to your hands, firmly gripping the steering wheel.
Inside, the cabin is sleek and stunning, with Genesis giving the likes of Audi a run for its money in both style and build quality. Sitting in a G70 is a luxury experience that extends beyond the inviting materials, decorative stitching, solid switchgear, and excellent build quality. Driver-centric ergonomics and clear, intuitive controls indulge driving enthusiasts. At the same time, there’s no pandering with fake carbon-fiber bits or other flashy gimmicks. All of these lavish elements, big and small, combine to create something really special that you’d need to experience firsthand to really appreciate.
Getting in, however, is slightly compromised by the position of the driver’s seat, set back next to the B-pillar. The front seat placement provides a nice balance between comfort and sport but compromises legroom for the rear seats when moved too far back. Interior cubby storage includes a useful tray at the front of the center console— perfect for smartphones and other small items. These are small criticisms when stacked against everything Genesis does right in creating a uniquely refined and elevated cabin space for the G70.
As a lovely bonus, the G70’s starting price is even reasonable, Especially when you consider everything you’re getting. The base trim starts at just $42,750, while the fully loaded, 3.3T Sport Prestige comes in at just $13,000 more. It’s even backed by an unbeatable 10-year powertrain warranty. Put it all together, and you’ve got a sporty sedan that’s practical, powerful, and worthy of all of the hype.
G70 3.3T Sport Prestige: $55,600.00
