Let’s get the not so obvious part out of the way first. Striking and sporty as the design of the 2024 Lexus LC 500 may be, careful not to be deceived. In reality, it’s more of a luxury car than a sports car. Thats not to say it isn’t fast, balanced, responsive and a blast to drive hard. Only that it’s more suited for a Grand Tour cross-country journey, than your local SCCA track event. While the raw numbers might not match that of competitors like the BMW M8 or the Porsche 911 Turbo, the LC is built with comfortable cruising as the primary goal, rather than rip-roaring high performance. With that expectation set, it’s easy to love the LC 500h for what it is, without holding it to a standard it’s not even trying to meet.
The LC 500 is arguably one of the best looking cars Lexus has ever produced, besides the iconic LFA. It’s sleek, sexy exterior commands attention and exudes luxury. While the interior offers a cabin that’s ideal for both long trips and easy, every day use. The standard V-8 engine delivers an internal combustion soundtrack that will make you swoon. There’s also a V-6 hybrid option for those prudent consumers prioritizing fuel efficiency and range. 29 mpg combined to be exact. Available in both coupe and convertible forms, the LC offers extensive customization options through the Bespoke Build program. This year, Lexus has upgraded the LC’s infotainment system with a new 12.3-inch touchscreen that features the brand’s latest software interface. All models now come standard with parking sensors, intuitive parking assist and forged, gloss black 21-inch wheels. There are two new color options as well: Ultrasonic Blue Mica 2.0 and Copper Crest. Additionally, a limited edition Inspiration Series model is available for both the LC 500 coupe and LC 500 convertible. This special edition offers more than just sporty aesthetics, including a limited-slip differential and performance dampers for the rear suspension. Only 125 units will be produced, all featuring a Polar Surge Satin white exterior and a blue leather interior. The Lexus Bespoke Build program offers even more customization options, such as a carbon-fiber roof panel for the coupe, carbon-fiber scuff plates and various top colors for the convertible model.
The 2024 LC 500 continues to charm and seduce like never before. Largely thanks to its many bespoke options, new paint colors and limited edition Inspiration Series model. It’s deeply luxurious, while maintaining an intensely exotic allure. If you’re expecting a fire-breathing track star, you’ll be a little disappointed. However, for long, comfortable trips across state lines, or quick errands around town, I can’t think of much better.
