Does it get more extra than online luxury retailer Moda Operandi calling on Judith Leiber to create 40 one-of-a-kind bedazzled bags? A moment only Lauren Santo Domingo could rally.
The collection for Moda Operandi will have pieces from the Judith Leiber Archival Museum that are recut from their original molds and new novelty bags that require more than 100 hours of work and 10,000 crystals each.
Did you know that each piece by Judith Leiber is visualized via sketches, then refined via sculpture? Once that sculpture has been turned into a mold, it’s shipped out to be made into pieces. This isn’t an overnight process. In fact, it can take up to two years from conception of the idea until the final piece is completed.
The collection will be available to purchase on October 7th at Moda Operandi.
